CXMB 3.2.1 Released

Large Original II Midnight Black
Above theme by robs1968

We all get bored of the default PSP theme, and flashing custom themes can be difficult. If you’ve updated to custom firmware 4.01 M33 recently, flashless or CTF themes no longer worked. That is, until poisonhzkj released an updated version of CXMB.

3.2.1 Changes:

  • Fix bug (freeze while applying theme)
  • Fix bug (restore to original official XMB when returns from game)
  • make official XMB not a choice of random.

3.2 Changes:

  • Add 4.01 compatibility.
  • Select the random.ctf, then cxmb will randomly apply your themes in /PSP/THEME/
  • Compile universal binary, cxmb.prx should work on 3.71/3.80/3.90/4.01
  • Fix some wrong io operation (I wrote some sceIoClose where there should be sceIoDclose)
  • Clean up sources

PspStates Experiment v2 for PSP Slim

pspslimsilver2.jpg

Now this app is a life saver! Sometimes there’s an extremely long level that you want to finish some other time and would hate to quit in the middle of, or there’s an annoying part where you keep having to start over and would like a sooner savepoint. Well this ends now with Dark_AleX’s PspStates. This new app will allow you to save you game state wherever you want.

Version 2 Changes:

  • Fixed important bug in inter-thread code (semaphore wasn’t waiting due to interrupts disabled), that caused the load state to not be completely read in some cases. This caused black screen after state load (unless you just saved that state, in this case state was still in ram), or even worse, game not working properly due to partial load.
  • Added states per game basis. The controls are slightly different: old controls now do a local savestate/loadstate of the game, while pressing additionally select button will save/load a global state. See instructions for more info.
  • Fixed bug that caused normal sleep mode waking up immediately.
  • UMD discs and isos in normal UMD mode are now supported. However, they require to nullify umdcache, by flashing one file, read the instructions in the readme.

Please be aware that custom firmware 4.01 M33 is required to use, and remember, this will only work with the PSP Slim. Be sure to check out the readme for usage instructions.

  • Spanish recovery translation typos fixed.

Please note that you must be running firmware 4.01 M33 before updating.

Not long after the release of the official 4.01 firmware, Dark_AleX and Team M33 are out to release 4.01 M33!

Besides the official firmware changes, here’s whats new:

  • Recovery can now be translated, See how below. Translation to spanish is autoincluded.
  • Updated the M33 SDK with a new function and sample, and released the psp-packer tool to compress prx’s and PBP’s in the ~PSP format.
  • The folder of 4.01 and higher homebrew will be GAME4XX so it won’t need change on update.

Download below, or, if you have custom firmware 3.80 M33 or higher, grab it via the M33 network updater.

In the mean time, the team notes that the 1.50 kernel addon (for PSP Phat only) will be released very soon.

1.50 Kernel Add-on for 4.01 M33

PSPThe promised 1.50 kernel add-on for 4.01 M33 is here! This will allow you to run homebrew written for firmware 1.50.

Unfortunately, for PSP Slim users, this will only work with the original Phat PSP. To install, check the readme for instructions. In addition, you will need to download the official 1.50 firmware update, rename it to 150.PBP, and place it in the root of your memory stick. Enjoy!

PSPCAP32 v1.4.2: Amstrad CPC Emulator for PSP

pspcap32.jpg

Zx-81’s PSPCAP32’s getting better and better with each update. This emulator allows you to emulate the CPC464, CPC664, and CPC6128 models on your PSP.

Changes:

  • Bug fix in CRTC emulation (games such as Prehistorik II just couldn’t be launched)
  • Two drives (A & B) are now supported, but only drive A can be used to automatically start a game. It might be useful with symbOS to put the OS disk on drive ‘A:’ and application disk on ‘B:’
