CXMB 3.2.1 Released

Large Original II Midnight Black
Above theme by robs1968

We all get bored of the default PSP theme, and flashing custom themes can be difficult. If you’ve updated to custom firmware 4.01 M33 recently, flashless or CTF themes no longer worked. That is, until poisonhzkj released an updated version of CXMB.

3.2.1 Changes:

  • Fix bug (freeze while applying theme)
  • Fix bug (restore to original official XMB when returns from game)
  • make official XMB not a choice of random.

3.2 Changes:

  • Add 4.01 compatibility.
  • Select the random.ctf, then cxmb will randomly apply your themes in /PSP/THEME/
  • Compile universal binary, cxmb.prx should work on 3.71/3.80/3.90/4.01
  • Fix some wrong io operation (I wrote some sceIoClose where there should be sceIoDclose)
  • Clean up sources

This is a GZ file what is that?

i’m also looking as to where the files go…a ‘tar.gz’ file is ‘tarred’ and then ‘gzipped’. You normally do this using the Linux OS, but winrar can open the archive.

OK,I got it…when you unpack the ‘cxmb_release_321tar.gz’ archive (I use winrar, although something like 7z should work–i just haven’t tested it yet) you end up with a folder named ‘cxmb_release_321tar’. In that folder you have a file with the exact same name. So, if you were doing all this from your c: drive, you’d see this– C:\cxmb_release_321tar\cxmb_release_321tar.

what you want to do is rename the ‘cxmb_release_321tar’ file to ‘cxmb_release_321.tar’. This is just another archive for you to extract, so choose to extract it, and you end up with a folder named ‘cxmb_release’. Open that folder, and then open the file named ‘readme.txt’ (NOT the one named ‘._readme.txt’!) using wordpad (not notepad, as the formatting for the text in the file gets jumbled). For ease of use, I say only concern yourself with the section that covers the install of the Lite Version. Enjoy!
